16 Oct Important changes to Building regulations that may effect Home Energy Grants
The Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government has amended Part L of the Building Regulations from 1 Nov 2019 and requires improving the energy performance of dwellings undergoing major renovations. What is a major Renovation? It is the renovation of a dwelling where more than 25% of the surface of the dwelling envelope undergoes major renovation. Major Renovations include:- External Wall Insulation and Internal Wall Insulation (dry-lining) and therefore may trigger Major Renovation.
In order for works to quality for the Home Energy Grants the home must be compliant with Part L of the building Regulations.
To receive grant funding, it must be demonstrated that the building regulations have been met. This can be achieved with two options:
1) That the building energy rating is a B2 or better or
2) That the ceiling insulation has a U value of 0.16 w/m2k and old inefficient boilers are replaced as required.
